aTV Flash (black) Beta5 for Apple TV 2 Now Available

aTV Flash (black), Firecore’s flagship product for the 2nd generation Apple TV, has been updated to Beta5. This time the developers’ main focus has been on building and improving the Media Player feature: according to Firecore, the Media Player has received a “big boost” in Beta5, but is still under heavy development with many more features and improvements still to come.

aTV Flash (black) Beta4 for Apple TV 2 Now Available

aTV Flash (black) Beta4 for Apple TV 2 has just been released. According to Firecore, in terms of features, this is the most substantial release since Beta1 first became available in early December 2010. The latest version of aTV Flash features an ‘alpha preview’ version of a brand new Media Player that has been under development for the past few months. This player enables the playback of non-iTunes media (streamed from a network source) on theApple TV with no special software or transcoding required.

  • Added native Weather and RSS apps (will appear under Internet menu when installed)
  • Added support for Remote HD iPhone/iPad app
  • Added option to restart ‘Lowtide’ via Maintenance menu

The first beta version of Seas0nPass for Windows has gone out to those who signed up for the Seas0nPass beta earlier this week. Barring any major setbacks, or show-stopping bugs we’re hoping to have a public version available next week.

Pre-launch checklist

  1. Download and install the latest version of iTunes (check for updates through Software Update located in Apple menu).
  2. Download Seas0nPass (CURRENT VERSION: 0.6.6 – fixes wi-fi networking issue)
  3. micro USB cable (or this cable) will be required to complete the jailbreak.

How to Jailbreak Apple TV 2G using Seas0nPass

Step 1:Unzip the ‘Seas0nPass.zip’ file and launch Seas0nPass.

Step 2: If your AppleTV is not yet jailbroken, select ‘Create IPSW’. (if already jailbroken, and you just need to do a ‘tethered boot’ scroll down).
